N.M. asked me to explain what her grandfather's WW1 Service Record represented and to research his war experience. From the regimental war diaries of the two units with which he served abroad I was able to establish which battles he was involved in and to portray the kind of life he experienced in the war zone - including hardships, parades, bathing, sport and recreation. It also uncovered a lot of detail about the early use of tanks in battle. |
